MTV Chronicles the Epic Rise of Miley Cyrus as She Embraces New Public Persona and Musical Direction in "Miley: The Movement" New Doc Premiering 10/2 at 10pm ET/PT

After her headline-grabbing VMA performance, chart-topping sales including her first-ever #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for "Wrecking Ball," and helping to usher the word "twerk" into the everyday lexicon, global superstar Miley Cyrus has catapulted to the top of the pop culture stratosphere. But who is the real Miley and what is driving her transformation?

For the last four months, MTV has been granted unmatched access to Cyrus, who will unabashedly take viewers on her whirlwind journey from tween television sensation to one of pop music's most magnetic and unapologetically controversial artists during "Miley: The Movement" premiering on Wednesday, October 2nd at 10pm ET/PT.

The intimate, 60-minute documentary film will capture the full essence and evolution of Cyrus as she gears up for the release of her debut RCA Records album, "Bangerz" on Tuesday, October 8. The special will chronicle her triumphs and struggles at home, in the studio and on the road, as well as the planning, rehearsals, performance and media frenzy surrounding her 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards" medley with Robin Thicke.

"Miley: The Movement" will also air internationally on MTV channels around the world in October 2013. The film follows in the footsteps of similar enlightening MTV documentaries that have featured the likes of such superstars as Lady Gaga, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears and most recently, Demi Lovato.

To celebrate the forthcoming documentary, MTV will dedicate its entire AMTV morning music block on Wednesday, October 2 to Miley Cyrus. In addition, MTV Hits, MTV's 24-hour music channel, will launch a special "Miley: The Movement" Countdown for a full 24 hours prior to the premiere, including music videos, live performance clips, interviews with MTV News and teasers in anticipation of the debut.

Elvis Spiritual Ring, George Harrison Banjo, Civil War Flag by Tiffany Will Lead Ahlers & Ogletree Oct. 6 auction

(Press Release)— A star ruby and diamond spiritual ring owned and worn by Elvis Presley, a four-string banjo owned and played by former Beatle George Harrison and a rare Civil War 36-star “General’s Guide” flag made by Tiffany & Company are just a few of the marquis lots slated to come up for bid at Ahlers & Ogletree’s Fall Estates Auction on Sunday, Oct. 6th.

The auction will begin promptly at 11 a.m. (EST) at Ahler’s & Ogletree’s spaciousgallery located at 715 Miami Circle (Suite 210) in Atlanta. In all, about 600 lots will be sold, in a rainbow of categories to include fine art, Asian objects, period furniture, estate jewelry, Old Paris and Ridgway porcelain, fine silver, chandeliers, Persian rugs, Beatles fan memorabilia and more.

The Elvis Presley star ruby and diamond spiritual ring was originally given to Presley on a visit to The Self-Realization Fellowship as a gift by Hindu founder Paramahansa Yogananda. Elvis later gifted the ring in 1976 to his bodyguard, Sam Thompson (whose sister, Linda, Presley dated for more than four years). The ring comes with a signed affidavit from Mr. Thompson.

The George Harrison four-string banjo is indistinctly marked on the headpiece, with only the word “London” legible. The banjo, however, comes with a hang tag, identifying the piece as “Lot 289” from Sotheby’s Carousel Sale held June 28, 1986, attesting to its authenticity. Interest in Beatles-related items continues to be strong, as does demand for all things related to the band.

The 36-star Civil War “National Colors” flag (a “General's Guide” flag) was made circa 1864 by Tiffany & Co., which had contracted with the U.S. Army to make regimented guidons, flank markers and national colors flags for units, generals and state units. The flag being sold has no unit markings and is made of silk, with hand-embroidered gold stars, 24 inches by 37 inches.

Furniture items will feature an 18th century Biedermeier secretary with mother of pearl key escutcheons, impressive at 83 inches tall by 43 ¼ inches wide; and a pair of mother of pearl inlaid and gilt decorated lacquer papier mache parlor chairs, each one having a back decorated with a pair of birds perched on a two-tiered fountain above a bursting bird and foliate design.

The sale will feature paintings by listed artists. Noteworthy lots include the following:

A monumental watercolor, acrylic and charcoal on brown paper by the Dutch painter Han van Meegeren (1889-1947), titled Woman with Afghan Hound Dog, artist signed.

An oil on canvas double-sided painting by Jean Mannheim (Am., 1861-1945), with a landscape with poplars on the front and a figural scene of two women on the back.

An oil painting by Joseph Henry Sharp (Am., 1859-1953), titled In the Doghouse, depicting a little blonde girl in a white dress and red hat, signed, dated and framed.

Bronzes will also be sold. Two lots to watch will be a large sculpture, titled Skylark, of a female trapeze artist by Victor Salmones (Mex., 1937-1989), with the young woman shown in a back-bend over an aerial bar with one hand dropped behind her head parallel to her flowing hair; and a 26-inch tall French bronze figure of Mercury, marked “Barbedienne Fondeur” (Foundry).

There will also be a fine Art Nouveau carved marble sculpture of a female nude, 21 inches tall and 27 inches long. The Asian category will be highlighted by a carved hardstone reclining Quan Yin figure shown resting its hand and holding up its head, wearing a dark-colored robe accented in gold and decorated. The figure is 9 ¾ inches tall and sits on a rectangular plinth.

Other star lots include a Thomas Edison Victrola with hand-painted iris decoration in a slate-colored horn; a pair of bronze and marble handled urns with figural relief scenes of young Neoclassical women, marked “Barbedienne each 26 inches tall; and a Sevres bronze mounted center bowl with exterior scenes of a couple courting and two women picking fruit and flowers.

For those unable to attend the auction in person, Internet bidding will be facilitated by LiveAuctioneers.com. Phone and absentee bids will also be accepted. Ahlers & Ogletree will be open at 10 a.m. on the days leading up to the sale for viewing and registration. Food and drink will be served at the auction. A buyer’s premium will be applied to all purchases made.

Ahlers & Ogletree is a multi-faceted, family-owned business that spans the antiques, estate sale, wholesale, liquidation, auction and related industries. Cher Credits Success and Longevity To To Luck

Cher credits her longevity to a simple notion: luck.

"I really believe it's luck," she said in a new sit-down interview with CBS News' Edward Lawrence. "I think it's luck. It doesn't make any sense that it's not. I think you have to be lucky because I do what I do and it's all well and good but it's not rocket science. It's just something. I believe it's 50 percent luck."

That "luck" Cher speaks of continues as she readies her new album, "Closer to the Truth," due Sept. 24. The set marks the singer's 26th solo album and her first since 2002's "Living Proof."

Armed with "great songs," Cher said there's not one track she doesn't like on the album, which features a guest appearance by Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters.

Elton John Lauds Young Artists, Then Mixes His New Songs With Old

At 66 years old, Elton John says he can make whatever kind of music he wants, regardless of commercial pressure, but he professes to love what young musicians are doing today.

At a rare free concert in Los Angeles on Monday night, John told the audience that it's time to turn over the spotlight to younger artists, even as he prepares to release his 30th solo studio album "The Diving Board."

"I (my music) don't play on the radio. It's other people's turn. But at my age, I can do what I want," the British singer-songwriter, clad in his usual long glittering coat, said on Monday during a question-and-answer session between concert segments at the University of Southern California.
