'Roar' Is No. 1 Marking Katy Perry's Eighth Single To Top The Billboard Hot 100

Global pop superstar Katy Perry has scored her eighth No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with the platinum selling "Roar," from her forthcoming album,PRISM.



With her previous album, Teenage Dream, Katy became the first woman in chart history to score six Hot 100 No. 1 singles from one album. The GRAMMY®-nominated album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2010.



This Friday, September 6, Katy will appear on Good Morning America to reveal the cover for PRISM on the Times Square jumbotrons. Katy will also be making a very big announcement on the show that same day.



Katy will perform at the iHeart Radio Festival in Las Vegas on September 20 and close the iTunes Festival at The Roundhouse in London on September 30. She recently closed out the 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards" with her first-ever live performance of "Roar."



On October 22, Capitol Records will release her new album, PRISM (preorder for the album is currently live) that follows Teenage Dream, which contained the hits "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "E.T.," "Last Friday Night," "Part of Me" and "Wide Awake".

Katy Perry's New Album Songs Will Be Like Their "Own Little Movie" Says Bonnie McKee

The 'Teenage Dream' star's co-writer says fans have no idea what to expect from her next record.



Katy Perry's new album won't all be similar to new song 'Roar' and will have each song being like "its own little movie", songwriter Bonnie McKee has revealed.



The 'American Girl' singer has worked regularly with Katy across her last album 'Teenage Dream' and upcoming record 'Prism', and says fans shouldn't be so sure about what to expect from the US star's next release.



"It's kind of like every song is its own little movie," Bonnie McKee teased to MTV News this week. "So [Roar] is 'Rocky' and also kind of jungle-y and cat-themed.



"And then each song has its own little movie and its own visual to go along with it," she explained. "So I wouldn't say it's all going to be like this.



"Like the next one, as far as I know, is going to be a big one too, I'm really excited for the next one," Bonnie teased. "[The song is] really colourful and really bright.



Katy Perry returned with new single 'Roar' last weekend going on to top charts around the world, while stars including will.i.am have praised the track as"freaking awesome".
