Will Life Imitate Art For Cher's New Album?

Cher is hoping life will imitate art. For the cover of her 26th album, Cher has gone platinum. Blonde that it. Maybe it foretells of things to come and the record will go platinum too. Cher hasn’t put out new studio album in over 10 years. Cher’s new album, which is called “Closer to the Truth,” will be released at the end September.

Cher has been releasing chart-topping music since the 1960s. First as part of the power couple Sonny and Cher, which also spawned a TV variety show. The “Sonny and Cher Show” ran until the couple divorced. And then it ran again because it was too popular not to run even if the couple weren’t together.

Cher doesn’t always listen to her own music. She said “Truthfully, I’m not a huge Cher fan and I’ve said this many times, but I think this is the best album I’ve ever done.” More here>>

Cher On Her Long Awaited Return To The Stage: I'm a Chicken!"

Considering she’s one of the foremost fashion and music icons in the world, we doubt very much that Cher is, as she describes herself, “a chicken”. But, talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the 67-year-old admitted how scared she was at taking to the stage for the first time in over a decade.

The legendary singer was performing at The Voice finale, showing off a new track from her upcoming album. "It's the first time I've been onstage or singing live -- the last time I think was with Tina [Turner] and I think that was about five or seven years ago," she explains. "And before that -- I can't even remember the last time I was on TV before that." Needless to say, she belted out Woman's World - off her upcoming album, Closer to the Truth – with the kind of audacity and aplomb that launched her to stardom, but that’s not to say there weren’t any butterflies. "It's very exciting and it makes you feel elated, but it's also kind of scary. And I'm a big chicken  anyway," she added.

Closer to the Truth, which will be hitting stores on September 24, is Cher’s first album since 2002's Living Proof. "I actually did a couple of different things in this album," she says. "I ventured into places I haven't gone and I really enjoyed that. I kind of took some chances in this album and then when they turned out to be good, I was really happy."

Cher and Lady Gaga's Collaboration May Not Be Released: "Im disappointed" says Cher

Cher revealed Lady Gaga's collaboration 'The Greatest Thing' may not be released as there has been a disagreement between the stars and it appears Gaga does not like the track.

Lady GaGa is blocking Cher from releasing her duet with her.

Gaga donated a track she wrote, 'The Greatest Thing', to the 67-year-old diva, which they then recorded together, but the results have never been aired.

When asked by a fan on twitter why the song has not been released the song, Cher wrote: ''It's done & she [Gaga] doesn't like it, or want it to come out. She's an artist, it's up to her. I'm disappointed 2 (sic).''

The producer behind the track - regular Gaga collaborator RedOne - previously said the song was something he and Gaga had worked on together, but remained unfinished until he played it to Cher.

He said: ''Gaga and I recorded the song a few years ago, and we were always in the studio enjoying that song. It's weird we never did anything with it.

''So I remember my management and Cher's management were trying to get us together, and I thought, 'Oh my God, I'd love to meet Cher, just to meet her!' And so I met her, I played her some songs, and I played her 'The Greatest Thing,' and she loved it. She said, 'This is my song.' ''

Originally Gaga was happy for Cher to record the track and to appear on the remix, but with RedOne's encouragement it became a duet.

He added: ''I cut the vocals with Cher first, and I was in Madrid and got a textfrom Gaga saying, 'I'm thinking about jumping on the song in the remix.' ''

''I was like, 'No, you should jump on the original! Make it a duet.' She said, 'Oh yes, OK, absolutely,' and then I spoke to Cher, and it became a party.''

Cher is set to release her 26th studio album, 'Closer To The Truth' - her first since 2001 - in September.
