Lady Gaga Being Sued By French Artist For Plagiarism

Lady Gaga is reportedly facing a new 20-million-dollar lawsuit for allegedly stealing another artist's ideas.



French artist Orlan has accused that the 'Bad Romance' hit maker used pictures of her sculpture, Bump-Load, in a No 1 album and video, the Daily Star reported.



The 66-year-old artist wants the court judges to forbid Universal Music from additional sales of Gaga's record 'Born This Way'.

Disney Channel Girl Meets World Gets Green Light

The highly anticipated Boy Meets World spin-off Girl Meets World has been given the green light by TV bosses.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel teamed up this spring to reprise their roles as childhood sweethearts, now grown up with a young daughter of their own.

The show has now been picked up by impressed network executives at Disney, who have ordered a full series. Production is slated to begin in Los Angeles this summer.

In a statement, creator Michael Jacobs says, "I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids. Girl Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular."

Girl Meets World, which stars 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard as Savage and Fishel's daughter, is scheduled to premiere on the Disney Channel next year.

'Man Of Steel' Soars To June Record $113 Million Opening

With $113 million over the weekend and another $12 million from Thursday screenings, "Man of Steel" racked up $125 million in total in its first few days in theaters, not only setting the June record but giving Warner Brothers the potential for a lucrative new franchise. Also hitting theaters was "This is the End," an R-rated comedy that brought in a steady $20 million over the weekend and $32.80 million including Wednesday and Thursday. It wasn't all good news for the topmovies in theaters, though, as "The Purge" plummeted a surprising 76% from its chart-topping opening, suggesting that it was definitely a one-weekend wonder.



But the weekend was all about "Man of Steel," the $225 million production from Warner Brothers. After Warner Brothers struggled to get Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns" off the ground back in 2006, they started from scratch with a brand new look for the iconic superhero, and so far it seems that the strategy has paid off. "Man of Steel" broke the June record briefly held by "Toy Story 3" on a per theater average of nearly $27,000, suggesting a very high level of audience support.



Yet even with strong early numbers, "Man of Steel" still has a long way to go before it can justify its steep budget and meet its enormous expectations. "Man of Steel" will have to compete with a steady string of major action releases over the next few weeks, testing the level of fan involvement in the process. Not only does "Man of Steel" need to post some big domestic numbers throughout the rest of June, but it also needs to sell quite a few tickets overseas if it's going to end up as one of the top grossing films of the year.



So far, early international numbers are decent, with $71 million in foreign revenue over the weekend to push its worldwide total close to $200 million. With releases in China, Japan, France, Germany and many other big markets still on the horizon, we'll know a lot more about its overall box office outlook in the next couple of weeks.



While action audiences scooped up tickets to see "Man of Steel," many comedy-seekers ended up finding their way into R-rated comedy "This is the End." With strong critical buzz and a popular cast including Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill, "This is the End" saw strong opening figures, earning more than $6,700 per site over the weekend and posting good overall numbers back on Wednesday and Thursday as well. "This is the End" won't have as much genre competition as "Man of Steel" over the next few weekends, opening the door for it to post some decent numbers from now until the end of the month.



As "Man of Steel" and "This is the End" found their target demographics, it looks like "The Purge" has worn out its welcome. After surging to a stunning $34 million, chart-topping opening just a week ago, "The Purge" took a nosedive in its second weekend, dipping a rare 76% to finish with just $8.20 million in revenue. For a $3 million production, a $51.85 million 10-day domestic total is still very good, but it doesn't seem that "The Purge" will have much sway with audiences moving forward and it should see a steep drop in screenings by next weekend.



The weekend was also likely the last time that "After Earth" makes it to the top 10 after a very weak box office performance thus far. With a production budget of $130 million, "After Earth" has managed just $54.20 million domestically since its May 31 release, making it easily Will Smith's biggest box office dud in the process; even Smith's "Wild, Wild West" overcame disastrous critical reviews to earn $113 million in the U.S., the equivalent to $177 million in 2013 revenue. Look for "After Earth" to continue its quick descent and to be out of theaters fairly soon.



Next weekend, the box office should get another boost with the release of two major releases aimed at different demographics. After the success of "Monsters, Inc." more than a decade ago, animation studio Pixar will launch prequel "Monsters University," which should have no problem finding a very wide family audience from June well into July. Also hitting theaters will be "World War Z," an apocalyptic thriller starring Brad Pitt that is already gathering some decent critical buzz heading into its opening.

Kim Kardashian Is A New Mother

Hey guys, just in case you missed it....

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West are celebrating the birth of their first child after the baby arrived five weeks early on Saturday morning (15Jun13), according to reports.



The little girl was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.



Kardashian, 32, was not due to give birth until early July (13) but sources suggest both mother and baby are in good health.



The newborn's father reportedly pulled out of a launch party for his new album, Yeezus, on Friday night (14Jul13) when his girlfriend started having contractions.



Insiders claim he was present throughout the delivery.



West's rapper friend Nas took to Twitter.com to react to the happy news, writing, "Congrats (sic) to Kanye for the birth of his daughter today... To my bros w/ (with) daughters!" while hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons added, "There is no greater gift in life than a child's laughter! Congrats to Kim and Kanye."

Paul McCartney Smells Weed On Stage At Bonnaroo

Sir Paul McCartney stopped his set at Tennessee's Bonnaroo festival on Friday June 13 when he smelled marijuana smoke coming from the audience.


The Beatles legend headlined the Bonnaroo music festival on Friday night and played a hit-packed 38-song set and two encores for the delighted crowd.


However, the veteran musician stopped mid-way through the show when he caught a whiff of what he believed to be a cannabis joint coming from the audience.


McCartney insisted the smoke was so strong, he could smell it on stage, telling the crowd, "That's some pretty good weed I can smell up here... Whew! What are you doing to me."


During his performance, McCartney also played his hit Back in the USSR and voiced his support for jailed Russian punk stars Pussy Riot, whose members are serving time for performing a protest song in a Moscow church.


Reunited rap stars Wu-Tang Clan were also among the acts to perform on Friday, while other acts still to play over the weekend include Jack Johnson, who has stepped up to replace Mumford & Sons following the cancellation of their Saturday night set. The band pulled out after their bassist, Ted Dwane, was hospitalised for brain surgery.

Billy Joel And Elton John End Feud at Songwriters Hall of Fame Celebration

Billy Joel and Sir Elton John ended their feud at the Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony in New York City on Thursday night after Joel told the 'Rocket Man' to call him just after he introduced inductees Mick Jones and Lou Gramm of Foreigner.

The former pals and touring partners fell out in 2011 when the Brit publicly accused Joel of not taking rehab seriously as he attempted to battle alcoholism in a blunt magazine interview, during which he also suggested the New Yorker was lazy.

The I'm Still Standing rocker told Rolling Stone, "He's going to hate me for this, but every time he goes to rehab they've been light. When I went to rehab, I had to clean the floors. He goes to rehab where they have TVs. I love you, Billy, and this is tough love."

He added, "At the end of the day, he's coasting. I always say, 'Billy, can't you write another song?' It's either fear or laziness. It upsets me."

Joel was clearly saddened by Elton's comments and publicly reprimanded him, but revisiting the feud in a New York Times Magazine article, which was published last month (May13), it appeared the My Life hitmaker had mellowed, stating, "He (Elton) tends to shoot off his mouth - he shoots from the hip. I think his heart is in the right place. Maybe he's trying to motivate me, to get me mad or something. He's kind of like a mom."

Joel also recently stated he would be interested in performing with his fellow rock pianist again.

Elton, who was honored with the Johnny Mercer Award at the music gala, offered to officially end the pair's stand-off at the Songwriters Hall of Fame event when he took the stage and said, "I didn't see you tonight Mr. Joel, but I want to see you."

And his gamble paid off - Joel later took to the microphone and asked, "Is Elton still here by the way?" before adding, "Anyway, we're OK. Call me. It's the same phone number."

As well as Elton and his longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry and singer-songwriter J.D. Souther were saluted at Marriott Marquis Hotel gala, while Motown founder Berry Gordy was handed the Pioneer Award.
